Momentum Applied to a Football Game

Hello everyone!!!

First of all, what is Momentum? Momentum is a measure of an object's inertia of motion. An example of momentum is when a big truck rolls down a hill, and then a little car rollsdown a hill. The truck goes faster because it had a larger mass which gave it more momentum. P stands for momentum. Isaac Newton called this property of an object its "quantity of motion." Last Tuesday 15th of October, we went to play football on physics class. It was very astonishing for us because our teachers don't take us out that often. It's fun to play with friends and not to have classes. While we were playing football Mr. José Popoff went back to the class and wrote this on the board:

When we came back to our class we were disappointed because we had homework to do. We were so excited of going that, we forgot we didn't have a ball. When you play football or any other sport, you can find momentum. Now you make ask how do you find it? Well, you get momentum by applying the formula p=mv that means mass times velocity. What is velocity? Velocity is the time rate of change in position in a specified direction. For example, momentum is applied when a football player is running with a ball and another player comes does a tackle to the player, if you have more mass or a greater velocity that means you have a greater momentum than the other player. We have the momentum of the ball too, we obtain it by getting the mass of the ball and the velocity. Since an object´s mass is usually constant, a change in momentum is almost always a change in velocity that is, an acceleration. Therefore, F=p/t that is change in momentum over change in time, force is a push or pull on a system. Force is very important for momentum and impulse is a force that is like momentum. In a game you force to kick the ball, to tackle a player, to stop ball you need it for everything in football. Impulse is an unbalanced force of an object changes its momentum. The formulas for impulse are I=Ft that is force times change in time. Impulse is a change of momentum, and momentum is mass times velocity, so any real-life situation where there's achange of velocity (acceleration) there's an impulse. Examples of impulse are: a bat hitting a ball is a great example, the engine of a car accelerating it, an oar accelerating a boat, a rocket engine, and so on.

All this terms and the planet wouldn´t exist without God, our savior the one we own our lives. He made man in his image and likeness. So all this is related with God, he gives us knowledge, wisdom and blessings. Without knowledge Newton wouldn't have discovered the "laws of motion" or other theories  wouldn't work. For me God is my creator, path and my inspiration to be a successful man in the future. God relates with all of us in this planet and otherwordly things.

Torque

First let´s start with, what is torque ?

What is Torque ?

Torque, moment or moment force, is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis. Torque can be thought as a twist to an object. The magnitude of torque depends of three quantities: the force applied, the lenght of the lever arm, and the angle between the force vector and the lever arm. In symbols will be:

T= rF or T=rFsin times theta

For our physics class we did a small lab activity. We used a ruler, a clip, some metric masses and a balance. We learned what is torque, how does it work, and how can we apply it's formula. 

First we set up the torque balance and we placed a clip for it to balance. Then we measure two masses of the same weight and we were trying to balance it. So we moved that was lighter to the center for it to balance.

Then we did some other activities. First we spin a wheel and we were standing on a rotating board, it was very cool because the more you spin the wheel the more you will move. I happens because the wheel was exerting a force and our body acquired angular momentum, and because an external torque changes an angular momentum of a rigid body.

Then we had fun with the gyroscope because it looked like honduran tops or beyblades. What is a "gyroscope" ? 

A gyroscope is a device for measuring or maintaining orientation, based on the principles of angular momentum. So it deals with angular momentum too. Angular momentum is a vector quantity that represents the product of a body's rotational inertia and rotational velocity about a particular axis.

The application of gyroscopes include inertial navigation system where magnetic compasses would no work or would not be precise enough, or for the stabilization of vehicles like radio controlled helicopters or unmanned aerial vehicles. 

At the end we went to pre-school, to the merry go round. We saw the moment of inertia of the merry go round and the force applied. It was very hard because you had to be almost laying down and then when it started you had to get up and bring your body to the center.

I love the "Mclaren Mp4-12c" because of his style and I like the "Mustang Boss Laguna Seca" because of his acceleration and his good looking. And the best car of all, that has all the qualities and it is my dream car iiiiiiiiiiiissssss the 

"Bugatti Veyron Super Sport 16.4"

is the fastest car in world. I will be very happy if in the future that car could be mine.

Digital footprints

So, how are you this morning, afternoon or evening ?

Well, Hi I am glad to be here writting on my blog and very happy, because I am almost going out from school. 

Well in my free time sometimes I like to play ps3 with my brother or with my bestfriend (Antonio Rodriguez). Sometimes I play soccer or what we call here in Honduras "Fútbol". I don't like to write or to do a speech or things related to that I hate them. What I do is I hangout with my friends and most of the time we do crazy stuff.

Social Media, the first one I had was "Windows Live Messenger or Hotmail" and in those times it felt cool, because you can talk with 3 or more friends at the same time and if your friend didn't answer you click on buzz and your friend heared "bbuuuuuzzz" or  somthing like that. Then "Hi5" came up but it was not so amazing so no one used it, but then "Facebook" came up and that was amazing, because it had games and the design was great, you could post status of whatever you wanted. Then when I was on 9th grade my science teacher taught us about twitter because I had heard about it but I didn't like, but with I had to use it to chat with kids of other countries and now I like it but I don't tweet that much. Now in tenth grade I found "Blogger" and I like it and I like to see how many viewers I have every week.

Secrets in The Forest

Hi, In this post I am going to talk about secrets that can hide in this forest.

Well long time ago there was a child that went to the forest and he thought he will have a normal walk. So one day he went to the forest for a walk, but he didn't know what was going to happen. Suddenly a spaceship crashes the Earth and a creature appears and tries to communicate with the kid, but the kid was so scared that he went running and hit a tree with his head. When he wakes up, he was in the spaceship and there was a very ugly and terrifying creature that he had never seen before. Then he realized that the creature who's name was "Jim" was a spacecop and he was protecting the Earth from the terrifying creature who's name was "Galaxar The Great". Jim told the kid who's name was "Robert" that he capture Galaxar in the third quadrant of the nebula, Galaxar was planning to bomb the Earth, but  Jim stop him and the Earth was save. After all the story, Robert wakes up realizes that it was a dream and that nothing happen, or not because he saw shine in the dark sky that disappear at the speed of light.

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces

This is my Physics lab report.

Newton's Second Law of Motion applied to carts

The past Wednesday, March the 20th we brought a cart made of any material for Physics class. We went to the lab and we measure the mass and the force of our cart. Our purpose was to get the acceleration in meters per second square (m/s2) applying the formula F=ma.

Our initial mass was 0.26577 Kg. 

 First we measured the mass of the kart, than we did several trials adding some metric masses and we got the force using the "Spring Scale" and we inserted the data on a table. We did 5 trials with different masses.

 Our acceleration data is very accurate, because we test it a lot of times in every trial.

1. Veterinarian: In the future if God wants I will be a veterinarian, I always want it to be that.   
2. Astronaut: When I was a child, I always want it to be an astronaut and go to space.
3. Jet Pilot: I wanted and I want to be a pilot.
4. Famous singer: I want to sing with Daddy Yankee, Farruko, Nicky Jam or Don Omar.    
5. F1 driver: I don't like cars, I love them and specially Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati and Aston Martin. 
6. Artist: I want to be an artist, because I am creative in my mind but I can't do it with my hands.
7. Video game designer: I want to design games for Activision, Infinityward or Ubisoft.   
8. Music producer: I want to be a great music producer and with a big producer.
9. State Trooper: I drive the cars and have the guns they use.
10. Inventor: I want to create new things like eye cellphones or super cars.
    

PS3 Slim

PS3 (Play Station 3) is one of the best console I have ever used. I have my own PS3 console and it is great, I have it since 2010 and the graphics are very realistic, but of course there is a console that competes with PS3 and the name is Xbox. Xbox is a very complex console not everyone can play with it. All my life I have been raised with Play Station at my side. My favorite game is Call Of Duty. I am waiting for the new PS4 they say is the best console, but going back to PS3 its characteriscs are: 

• The positive characteristics: slimmer, more compact design with quieter operation; all games in high definition; easy to use the interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and up scaling DVD player; built-in Wi-fi; 120GB hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; built-in Web browser; free online gaming service.

• The negative characteristics: Lacks backward support for PS2 games; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible;online gaming, media, and commerce options still aren't as fully developed as Xbox Live, though they're getting better.

7 Cosas de Honduras

En este post les voy a mostrar 7 cosas que me gustan de Honduras


 1- Omoa es uno de mis lugares favoritos en Honduras, porque siempre en semana santa vamos a la casa de playa de mis abuelos, y la paso bien porque estoy con mis primos y salimos a andar en cuatrimoto o nos metemos a bañar a la piscina o vemos televisíon y algunas veces vamos a bañar al mar. 

2- Tela es otro lugar que me gusta porque el agua es menos sucia y tambien porque hacen unas sopas deliciosas. En Tela estan unas de las mejores playas de Honduras. A veces los fine de semana vamos a Tela a tomar una sopa y a conocer mas de Honduras y ami me gusta mucho salir a esos  lugares.

3- Pescado frito con tajadas es de las mejores comidas tipicas en Honduras y es una de mis favoritas. Esta hecho de tilapia frita acompañada de tajadas, con ensalada y arroz con frijoles. Esta comida tipica se encuentra en Tela, Ceiba, Cortés, Islas de la Bahia y en toda la zona costera de Honduras.

4- Sopa de Mariscos es mi sopa favorita, porque lleva camarón, caracol, pescado y algunas personas le ponen cangrejo, langosta o almejas. La sopa se haya en toda la zona costera de Honduras. Pero tiene que saber hacer la sopa sino, no va saber muy bien.  

5- Comayagua es el lugar mas histórico de Honduras. Aqui se encuentra el reloj mas antiguo de América y el segundo mas antiguo en el mundo. Comayagua tiene el campanario mas viejo de centroamerica, antes era la capital de Honduras. Es una ciudad muy histórica y es muy colonial. 

   

6- Baleadas es mi comida tipica favorita. Las baleadas estan hechas de tortillas de harina con frijoles, queso, huevo y mantequilla; tambien se pueden comer con chorizo, jamon, aguacate y estremeño. Las baleadas se pueden encontrar en cualquier parte de Honduras. 

 

7- Bolitoglossa celaque es una especie de salamandra de la familia de los Plethodontidae, es un animal endémico de Honduras. Ellas viven en un hábitat que son los montanos húmedos tropicales o subtropicales. Es un animal muy hermoso por sus colores aunque esta en peligro de extinción por la destrucción de su hábitat.
